Bhadrak: A woman and her daughter were allegedly killed by a minor boy at a village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Wednesday.
As per preliminary information, a 14-year-old boy allegedly strangulated the woman and her minor daughter at Raibani Chowk in Ganijanga Panchayat under the jurisdiction of Bhadrak Rural police station.
The deceased have been identified as Sukanti Munda (38) and her daughter Mini (7). The woman was staying with her husband in the area. They reportedly eked out a living by working as daily wagers.
On being informed, a team from the Bhadrak Rural police station visited the spot and started an investigation.
While the boy has been detained by the police for interrogation, the bodies were sent to the hospital for postmortem.
Though the woman was suspected to have been sexually assaulted before being killed, a clear picture would emerge after the postmortem report is obtained.
The boy would also be sent for medical examination as part of investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the crime, sources said.
