Nayagarh: A minor boy was killed by stabbing allegedly over a dispute over the compensation money his mother had received after the death of her husband in the district late Saturday night.
The boy was identified as 14-year-old Suman Behera of Mahatpalla village under Ranapur police limits. He was a student of Class IX.
According to reports, Sumant’s father passed away about 8 months back. His mother Jayanti Behera, who works as a cook in a school to manage the family, had received a compensation amount of Rs 5 lakh.
It is suspected that a close relative of Suman murdered him as she did not want to share the compensation money. The preliminary investigation revealed that Suman was stabbed to death.
After a written complaint was lodged, Ranapur police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police have also detained one person in this connection.
