Minor Girl Creates Fake Facebook Account Of Relative; Held In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: The Koraput Town police on Wednesday detained a minor girl for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile and posting malicious content.

According to reports, the girl had used the picture of former Councillor of Koraput Municipality, Lili Burudi to create the fake account in December last year.

After creating the account, the minor used to post distasteful content which caught the eye of Lili’s friends. Lili herself was unaware of the fake account.

On learning about it, Lili had lodged a complaint on December 14, 2020, alleging that someone opened a Facebook account by using her photo and posting malicious content in it.

Basing on the complaint, police contacted Facebook soon after. The police received a reply earlier this month. Tracking the information provided by the FB authorities, police traced the mobile phone used for operating the fake account and found the owner to be a minor girl.

As per the preliminary investigation, the girl is a relative of the complainant and had created the fake profile to take revenge on Lili, said Biren Mohan Patnaik, the investigating officer.
