Jatni: Body of a minor girl was found hanging from the ceiling in her house under Jatni police limits, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, on Monday afternoon.
The incident came to light when the mother of the minor girl, who works as an Anganwadi worker, came home and found her daughter hanging from the ceiling.
In her complaint to the police, the mother said her daughter, a Class IX student of a government high school in Jatni, had not gone to the school on Monday and was alone in the house. Taking advantage of the situation, a youth of Saradhapur village in Khurda district, who was staying on rent at her neighbour’s house, barged inside the house and raped her daughter. “I saw the youth coming out of my house in a hurry from a distance. Suspecting foul play, I ran into my house and found my daughter hanging from the ceiling,” she added.
Acting on the complaint, police have begun a manhunt to nab the absconding youth.
