Nabarangpur: In yet another shocking incident, the bruised and scarred body of a minor girl was found lying on a farmland near her house in B Gumandali village under Koshagumuda block of Nabarangpur district on Saturday.
Family members of the victim, who found four pairs of trousers lying near the body, alleged that it is a case of gang rape and murder. They refused to take the body until the accused are nabbed and were joined in their demand by the villagers.
Senior police officials reached the spot and held discussions with the agitating people and persuaded them to allow the cops to perform their duty.
The victim’s father is a migrant labourer and works in Chhattisgarh. She used to live with her mother here. She had gone out to relieve herself on Friday night but never returned. Her body was found lying in a farmland the next morning.
The district Congress president Muna Tripathy, Nabarangpur Maa Ghar chairperson Kadambini Tripathy reached the spot. They demanded Rs 20lakh compensation for the victim’s family and immediate arrest of the culprits.
