Cuttack: The minor girl, who was critically injured after a temporary bridge collapsed during box drain construction work in Odisha’s Cuttack, died during treatment in a private hospital on Tuesday.
The girl, identified as Mohini Das of Rausapatna of Kesarpur in the city, was a Plus II student of Imarti Devi Women’s College.
The incident took place in Kesarpur after a temporary iron bridge at the box drain construction site collapsed when the 17-year-old girl was passing over it. The girl got trapped on the collapsed portion of the bridge and sustained critical injuries.
The locals rescued the trapped girl and rushed her to SCB Medical College and Hospital. Later, she was shifted to Aswini Hospital where she succumbed during treatment.
The incident took place a day after a man died and his wife sustained critical injuries in a similar incident after their car plunged into Taladanda canal in the city due to absence of barricades on Monday.
