Sambalpur: A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth who was going to sell her when she was rescued in the district.
According to sources, one Basant Sahoo of Sampur village under Redhakhol police limits had lured the 17-year-old girl of Uparmunda village under Kisinda police limits with the promise of marrying her. He kept her in captivity and raped her for several days.
The victim and her family members alleged that Basant had taken her to Redhakhol where he had conspired to sell her off to a person.
A case has been registered at Kisinda police station and the victim sent to the government hospital for medical examination.
Police have launched investigation into the matter while the accused is yet to be traced.
