Angul: A minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered at Kangula village in Angul district on Sunday.
The deceased was a student of Class-VII.
According to sources, the minor girl was allegedly kidnapped while she was on her way to meet her father on Sunday afternoon. Accused, identified as Anam Dehury of Kangula village, allegedly kidnapped her and committed the heinous crime.
Later, he dumped her body in a bush near Dakhina Kali temple in the village.
Father of the deceased lodged a complaint in police station, following which, Angul SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra, SDPO Harihar Pani and inspector-in-charge of Angul police station along with a forensic team reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.
The police then sent the body to a local hospital for postmortem.
The exact cause behind the death will be ascertained after receiving the autopsy repost, said the police.
