Minor Girl Raped In Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Notwithstanding awareness programmes like ‘Pari Pain Katha Tiye’ and ‘Kanya Kiran’, incident of rape involving small children continues to rear its ugly head now and again .

A nine-year-old minor girl is currently battling for life after being raped in Malkangiri district.

The victim, a student of Class IV student and a native of MV 4, had been to her uncle’s place MV 10 on Thursday. A neighbour, Chandrasekhar Baral, allegedly lured her to his house by offering some money for eatables and raped her, sources said.

The girl narrated the ordeal to her parents, following which her father lodged an FIR  through the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials.

She was admitted later to the hospital after her health condition deteriorated.

Meanwhile, police arrested the accused and sent him for medical examination.

On August 3, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by two youths in a forest in Malkangiri district.

According to the sources, the accused, identified as Budura Madakami and Sama Madakami of Kalimela area in the district, allgedly abducted the minor girl from her house at Erbanpali village at around 11 pm and took turns to rape her in a nearby forest.

The victim was later rescued by Kalimela police and admitted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.

Based on the girl’s statement, police swung into action and managed to nab the accused.

A case has been registered against the two under Sections 376, 457, 363 of IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act.
