Mathura: A 17-year-old boy murdered his father in a fit of rage and borrowed ideas from television serial ‘Crime Patrol’ to destroy evidence.
According to sources, the teenager killed his 42-year-old father Manoj Mishra on May 2 when the latter scolded him.
The boy, a Class XII student, was arrested on Wednesday. When the police checked his mobile phone, they found that he had watched the ‘Crime Patrol’ series several times.
The boy used an iron rod to hit his father on the head and when he fainted, he strangled him with a piece of cloth, according to news agency IANS.
The boy, helped by mother Sangeeta Mishra, then carried the body on a scooter to a forest area and the burnt the body with petrol and toilet cleaner to destroy evidence.
The police found the partially burnt body on May 3 that remained unidentified for almost three weeks since no missing complaint was lodged in any police station.
Under pressure from ISKCON officials, where Manoj used to work as a donation collector, the family was forced to lodge a missing person complaint. Manoj’s body was later identified by some of his colleagues from his glasses.
According to Mathura SP (city) Udai Shanker Singh, whenever police called Manoj’s son for interrogation, he would evade coming and would instead ask the police under what provisions of the law they were trying to interrogate him, IANS reported.
However, as the cops checked his mobile phone, they found a history of the boy watching Crime Patrol episodes at least 100 times. The boy finally broke down and admitted to his crime after several rounds of interrogation.
The boy and his mother Sangeeta Mishra, 39 were arrested and booked for murder and destroying evidence.
