Baripada: Police have begun an investigation into the alleged rape of a schoolgirl by a minor boy of another school.
The incident took place during the Saraswati Puja on Sunday.
Talking to mediapersons here, IIC of Sadar Police Station, Baripada, Swarnalata Minz, said as per the complaint lodged by the survivor’s aunt, a Class X student of a nearby high school scaled the boundary wall of the Ashram school in the night and raped the girl, a Class VIII student, inside the toilet.
“On the basis of the complaint, we have registered a sexual assault case no-10 under section 341, 376 (c) and 706 of the IPC and section 4 of the POCSO Act,” the IIC added.
The IIC also said that the police have recorded the statement of the girl and efforts are on to trace the absconding boy.
