Minor Students Hang Themselves To Death In Odisha’s Cuttack Dist

Cuttack: Two minor students allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in a school in the district on Saturday.

The boy was identified as Rudra Prakash Bhoi, son of Raj Kishore Bhoi of Sumandi village, and the girl, Sonali Barik, daughter of Ajay Barik of Khalarda village. While Rudra was a Plus II student, Sonali was reading in Class VIII in local school.

Since Rudra and Sonali belonged to adjacent villages, they came to know each other and became friends some time back. In course of time, as they came close to each other, their friendship developed into love affair.

On Friday morning, the locals found Rudra and Sonali hanging in the verandah of Shankhatrash High School under Cuttack Sadar police station.

On being informed by school authorities, police went to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They have registered an unnatural death case and launched an investigation.

While the reasons for the extreme step taken by the young couple has not been ascertained, their families accused each other of committing murder, the sources said.
