Mirrors On Walls To Shame People From Urinating On Them In Bengaluru

Municipal authorities in Bengaluru have come up with a unique way of preventing people from unrinating on walls by installing mirrors on them.

Wide mirrors measuring 8 by 4 feet have been installed in five different localities like KR Market near ESI Hospital, Indiranagar, Indian Express Circle, Jyoti Nivas College and Indiranagar near Coconut Grove. The mirrors cost Rs 50,000 each. CCTV cameras will be installed to avoid theft or damage to them. The spots chosen are where people usually urinate frequently.

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials have installed this as part of their Swachh Survekshan 2020 campaign.

The mirrors also have a QR code, which people can scan using their mobile phones and find out where the nearest toilet is.
