Balangir: A miscreant allegedly took selfies after slitting the throat of two students of Rajendra University in Odisha’s Balangir district during an extortion bid at a PG hostel.
The injured students have been identified as Ruturaj Singh and Lalit Meher, both Plus III first-year students.
According to police sources, the accused, Simran Bag, entered the hostel and tried to extort money from the students on Thursday. When Ruturaj and Lalit resisted, he slit their throat with a blade. He then took selfies with them.
On being informed, police reached the campus and arrested Simran. The students were admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital.
“Simran is a habitual offender and several criminal cases are pending against him,” informed Balangir sub-divisional police officer Tofan Bag.
