Miscreant Wanted In 14 Snatching Cases Arrested In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police has arrested a miscreant, who is wanted in several snatching cases, from Bhubaneswar.

The arrested person, identified as Bishnu Prasad Jena alias Chandan of Puri, was staying in a rented house in Khurda. He used to snatch gold chains, money bags and other precious things from the people in the capital city, police sources said.

Chandan had dropped out of college while studying Plus Two in 2021. He was arrested for possession of brown sugar and sent to jail. He was released on bail in February.

Since then, he has been committing snatching in the city. As many as 14 snatching cases are pending in different police stations under Bhubaneswar Urban Police Department (UPD), the sources said.

The police have seized a motorcycle, a mobile phone, gold ornaments of about 200 gram and about Rs 2 lakh in cash from his possession.
