Puri: A devotee was seriously injured in an attack by a group of three unidentified miscreants near Jagannath Ballav Mutt in Puri on Tuesday night.
According to reports, Pramod Jena, a native of Cuttack district, had come to Puri for the darshan of the Lords in the afternoon.
After the darshan at Jagannath Temple, he left for the vehicle parking stand near the Jagannath Ballav Mutt when he was intercepted by three unidentified miscreants who snatched his mobile phone and wallet.
As Jena resisted them, the trio attacked him with a knife in which he sustained deep wound on his neck and hand. When he shouted for help, the miscreants fled the area in a bike.
Following information, the Town Police rushed to the spot and admitted Jena to the district headquarters hospital from where he was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where his condition is stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
