Balasore: Unidentified miscreants attacked a medicine shop owner and looted Rs 5 lakh and other valuables in Bhograi area of Balasore district late on Tuesday.
According to sources, the incident took place when the victim was returning home on his motorcycle along Khalagadia road. The robbers intercepted the person, attacked him with a knife and snatched away a gold chain, one finger ring and cash to the tune of Rs 5 lakh.
The criminals also took away his motorcycle before fleeing the spot.
The man, who sustained severe injuries in the attack, was rescued by locals and rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
“A complaint regarding the loot has been lodged at the local police station. Efforts are on to identify and nab the looters,” a police officer said.
