Bijepur: Unidentified miscreants attacked a panchayat official and looted Rs 1.30 lakh in cash and other valuables from him near Dasamail area in Bargarh district on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Balaram Sahu, an executive officer of Sarakanda Panchayat under Sohela police station limits in the district. He was rescued and admitted to Sohela hospital for treatment.
According to police sources, two masked men intercepted Sahu, attacked him with sharp weapons and decamped with the cash and cell phone.
Sahu was on his way to the panchayat office to distribute the money among the beneficiaries under different schemes.
A written complaint regarding the incident has been lodged by the victim at Sohela Police Station.
