Berhampur: A 32-year-old man sustained severe injuries in his left arm after being brutally attacked with a sword by unidentified miscreants in Odisha’s Berhampur city on Wednesday evening.
According to sources, the assault took place around 7.30 pm when Suryanarayan Behera aka Pintu, a resident
of Balaji Pentha Sahi, was heading to Gangadhar Nagar near Sriram Nagar for personal work. Behera got into a heated argument with two youths on a motorcycle, over a minor issue. The dispute quickly escalated and the duo chased and struck him with a sword, inflicting serious injuries, before fleeing.
Bystanders rushed to his aid and shifted him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, where he is currently receiving treatment. His condition, though serious, is stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, Bada Bazaar police have launched an investigation and also recorded Suryanarayan’s statement at the hospital. Efforts are underway to nab the assailants, who sources added are currently out on bail.
