Phulbani: Unidentified miscreants looted cash worth lakhs of rupees from an ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) at Phulbani Bazaar late on Thursday.
According to available information, the miscreants dug a three-foot wide hole in the wall of the kiosk, broke open the ATM and made away with the money in it.
Police came to know about the theft this morning after some passersby noticed the wall of the ATM kiosk broken and alerted them.
Bank officials reached the spot on being informed by police.
However, the exact amount of cash stole from the machine is yet to be ascertained.
The cops and locals suspect the incident to be the handiwork of professional criminals.
“Investigation into the incident is underway. Raids are being conducted at different places in the district to nab the robbers,” a police officer informed.
