Puri: In a security breach at Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri town, miscreants allegedly looted a donation box located at southern gate of the shrine late on Thursday.
According to sources, the miscreants broke open the donation box kept under the Bhim statue near the southern gate of the temple, using an iron rod, and decamped with money and valuables, leaving it behind the Nrusingha temple on the premises.
The matter came to light after some servitors found the empty donation box. The Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) has handed it over to Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, which has initiated an investigation and is scanning the CCTV footage to nab the culprits.
Till filing of this report, no written complaint was filed by the SJTA in this regard.
