Sundargarh: Some unidentified miscreants allegedly looted ornaments and cash worth over Rs 1.5 crore from a family at gun-point in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Monday.
According to police sources, the group of 7-8 members went to the house of Nikhil Agrawal at Barpali village under Hemgir police station in the district in the afternoon. They threatened the family members with guns and swords and tied them up.
By threatening the family of their lives, the miscreants took the keys to the almirah and cupboards and took away 1.5 kg of gold and 1 kg of silver ornaments besides cash. Before any member of the family could raise an alarm, the miscreants fled with the loot.
Later, Agrawal informed Hemgiri police station about the armed loot. A police team along with a scientific officials went to his house and started investigation. Agrawal told the police that the value of looted ornaments and cash would amount to more than Rs 1.5 crore.
