Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted valuables from a house in Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar when the house owners were busy celebrating Diwali outside.
According to sources, the incident took place when the family members were bursting firecrackers outside the building on the occasion of Diwali on Sunday night.
The door of the house was apparently open with the family of three was celebrating the festival of light. Taking advantage of the situation, some miscreants reportedly entered the building and looted some gold ornaments, other valuables and cash.
The family members told the media that the miscreants were probably hiding somewhere inside the building when they went in after Diwali celebrations. The looters are s left the place after the family went to sleep as the door of the house was found open early in the morning, they said.
The police have been informed about the incident and necessary steps are being taken to identify the accused. Investigation into the incident is in progress.
