Bhadrak: Two unidentified miscreants allegedly shot at a woman as she foiled their attempt to kidnap her minor daughter in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Friday evening.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the woman, Jyotsarani Sahu of Alabaga village under Basudevpur police limits, was going along with her 4-year-daughter to nearby Chaura Chhak market for shopping at around 7 pm.
As they were about to reach the market, two persons came on a bike and tried to kidnap the minor girl from Jyotsarani. But she managed to resist them and saved her daughters from being taken by the miscreants. In the scuffle, Jyotsarani and her daughter fell down on the ground.
Taking advantage of it, the two accused shot at Jyotsarani, snatched her mobile phone and fled on their bike. Jyotsarani, who sustained bullet injuries on her right hand, was rushed to the coomunity health centre (CHC) at Basudevpur by the local people. Her condition was stated to be stable.
On being informed, a team from Basudevpur police limits went to the spot to investigate. They have registered a case in this regard and launched investigation to identify and trace the assailants who are absconding.
