Dhenkanal: Two miscreants snatched a gold necklace from a woman by forcibly entering her residential campus in Odisha’s Dhenkanal on Wednesday.
According to sources, two people came on a motorcycle to the house of the woman, Bidyutlata, at Mahisipata under Dhenkanal Town police station in the afternoon. She was standing near the iron gate of her house at the time.
They enquired from her whether there was any vacant house available on rent in the area as they were new to the town. After she told them that she did not have any information about this, the two persons asked her to give her mobile phone number so that they could contact her in future to ask about the house.
Suspecting the intention of the two persons, Bidyutlata refused to give her phone number and was going to close the gate when one of the miscreants tried to forcibly open the gate. As she resisted, he gave her a push.
As Bidyutlata fell down on the ground, the miscreant snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled on the bike with the other man. The entire incident was recorded in the CCTV camera of the woman’s house.
On being informed, a team from Dhenkanal Town police station went to the spot and started investigation. They have also taken the CCTV footage to identify the chain snatchers and trace them, the sources said.
