Miscreants Strike At Bimala Temple In Puri, Loot Cash

Puri: Unidentified miscreants reportedly looted cash from the donation box of Bimala temple inside Govardhan Peetha in Puri district late on Friday.

The matter came to the fore after the priests found the locks of the donation box broken this morning. They immediately alerted the Sea Beach police regarding the loot.

However, the exact amount looted from the donation box is yet to be ascertained.

In a similar incident of cash loot from temple, unidentified miscreants broke into the famous Panchalingeswar temple in Balasore district a little after midnight on Thursday decamped with Rs 50, 000 from the donation box.

Following the incident, locals demanded establishment of a police outpost in the locality alleging that similar heists have been reported in the past and several items, including ornaments of the deities stolen from the same temple.
