Kendrapada: In two separate cases of ATM loot in the district, unidentified miscreants decamped with more than Rs 40 lakh on Tuesday night.
According to police sources, the loot came to light on Wednesday when some locals had gone to the ATMs for transactions and found those damaged.
The looters targeted the unguarded ATM kiosks of State Bank of India (SBI) near Aul town. While one is located in Patrapur, the other is in Nialahaat.
Preliminary investigation by police revealed that the miscreants used a gas cutter to break open the vault of the ATM and took away the cash. Before leaving, they burnt down the CCTV cameras in the kiosks to destroy the recording.
The police and SBI officials have started investigation into the loot.
