Koraput: Unidentified miscreants set ablaze around half-a-dozen vehicles, including four cars, which had been seized by the police from ganja smugglers in Odisha’s Koraput district on Wednesday.
No one was hurt in the incident. The seized vehicles, which had been kept at Hockey field near Town police station and Koraput bus stand, were torched by some miscreants this morning when people were busy celebrating Holi.
Sources said the vehicles included at least four cars and two auto-rickshaws.
After noticing the fire, locals informed the police. Fire service personnel also rushed to the spot and launched an operation to douse the flames and prevent the blaze from spreading to other seized vehicles parked in the area.
The blaze was extinguished by the fire-fighters, but six vehicles were completely gutted.
A team of police personnel visited the site and initiated a probe into the incident. Efforts are on to identify and nab the miscreants.
