Miscreants Torch Bikes Over Refusal To Pay Ganesh Puja ‘Chanda’ In Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Miscreants allegedly set afire bikes of a man after he reportedly refused to give contribute money for Ganesh Puja celebrations in Khetrajpur area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

According to sources, a group of youths reportedly visited the house of Jayant Meher on Wednesday evening to collect Ganesh Puja ‘chanda’ – contribution. However, Meher refused to contribute for the festival due to some reasons.

Infuriated over his refusal, the miscreants returned to Meher’s house late at night and set his bikes on fire. The fire then spread to a cycle parked nearby and a few cement bags.

On being informed, fire services personnel rushed to the scene and doused the flame.

Meher has lodged a complaint at Khetrajpur Police Station alleging that the incident was a reaction of his refusal to contribute for the Ganesh Puja celebrations.
