Kalahandi/Bhadrak: Two ATM kiosks were looted while a similar attempt was foiled at two different places in Odisha on Monday night. These kiosks have become easy targets for miscreants, who are now employing new techniques to steal cash from the machines.
In Bhadrak, unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled seven to eight bombs at an ATM kiosk at Moto Bazaar in Chandbali area and looted it.
According to sources, about eight persons came on motorcycles and bombed the counter. Hearing the sound, owner of a nearby shop arrived at the spot and informed the police. On being informed, the police reached the spot, but the miscreants managed to flee the spot. The amount of cash looted from the ATM is yet to be ascertained.
In a similar incident, some miscreants looted an ATM of Indian Overseas Bank at Charichhak in Dharmagad the same night. They used a gas cutter to cut the machine and decamped with the cash.
However, police managed to foil a loot bid at a SBI ATM in Bastipada near Dharmagada.
