Bhubaneswar: One of the three visitors who were injured in a mishap
that took place in Nandankanan Zoological Park recently succumbed
while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on
Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Amiya Bharimal, a resident of Mahuria
village of Khurda district.
On January 3, Bharimal and his two friends were hit by a safari bus
while walking inside the zoo. They were immediately admitted to a
hospital after sustaining injuries. However, Amiya was shifted to
the ICU of the hospital as he suffered critical injuries in the
mishap.
Meanwhile, Bharimal’s family members held the zoo officials
responsible for his death due to negligence. They demanded their
immediate arrest.
On the other hand, Nandankanan Zoological Park Deputy Director said
that the accident took place owing to carelessness on the part of the
safari driver.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressing deep grief over the
tourist’s death. He conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family
and announces an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of the kin of the
deceased.
