Kendrapara: Headmistress of Bajramahakali M.E. School in Kendrapara district was suspended on Wednesday after body of a missing girl was found on the school premises the previous evening.
Besides suspension of the headmistress, identified as Kanchanabala Behera, for dereliction of duty, the Kendrapara district education officer has withhold salaries of two additional teachers of the school.
According to available information, a Class VI student Identified as Rajashree Patnaik of the school went missing from the campus on Tuesday morning. After failing to trace her, the school authorities lodged a complaint at the local police station.
However, the girl’s body was recovered from a pit near the school premises last evening.
On being informed about the incident, police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is on.
Family members of the deceased have demanded a thorough probe into the incident and action against those responsible for her death.
