Missing Girl’s Body Found, Locals Block Highway In Odisha’s Sambalpur Alleging Rape & Murder

Sambalpur: The body of a girl who went missing on Friday in Naktideula area of Rairakhol of Odisha’s Sambalpur district was found in a jungle on Sunday.

The girl had gone for taking bath to a village pond on Friday but did not return home. The incident sparked outrage in Naktideula as locals staged a protest and blocked the highway connecting Ranchi and Vijayawada.

“It is suspected that the girl has been raped and murdered,” the locals said alleging police negligence in the matter. They and raised slogans against the administration, demanding justice and compensation.

A village youth has been detained and is being questioned by the police, said sources.

Meanwhile, Naktideula police have registered a case in this connection and started an investigation with a team of forensic experts, the sources added.
