Missing Girl’s Body Recovered From Mahanadi In Odisha’s Sambalpur After 5 Days



Bhubaneswar: The body of a minor girl, who had gone missing after allegedly jumping into the Mahanadi River from a bridge in Odisha’s Sambalpur district, was recovered on Thursday.

According to


sources, the body was found floating near Golabandh and Fire Service personnel retrieved it.

It may be noted that the minor girl had allegedly jumped into the river from Chaunrpur Bridge at around on July 11, following which a search operation was launched.

Rescue teams had been conducting continuous searches in the river since the incident. However, despite sustained efforts over several days, they were initially unable to trace her. The search operation continued until the body was finally spotted in the morning, after which it was recovered and handed over for further legal formalities.

The deceased was a resident of Mayabagicha under Dhanupali police limits in Sambalpur.

The reason behind the minor’s extreme move remains unclear. An investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the incident.
