London: The body of a 23-year-old Indian student, who went missing in the UK, was fished out from the Thames river.
The 23-year-old Mitkumar Patel, who arrived in the UK for higher studies in September, was reported missing on November 17.
Metropolitan Police found his body in the Thames, near Canary Wharf area of east London, on November 21.
Mitkumar, from a farmer’s family, was declared dead by paramedics. Police said his death is not believed to be suspicious.
A fundraiser ‘Go Fund Me’ as been launched by Parth Patel, a relative, to help the deceased’s family and send his mortal remains to India.
The online fundraiser has raised over 4,500 GBP (approximately Rs 4.5 lakh) so far.
According to the Evening Standard newspaper, Mitkumar was due to move to Sheffield on November 20 for a degree course at Sheffield Hallam University and take up a part-time job at Amazon.
It was when he didn’t return from a daily walk to his London home that his relatives got worried and reported him missing.
