Bhubaneswar: Dhaneswara Barik, a close aide of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, was discharged from hospital on Wednesday and forwarded to court today.
Police had arrested Barik and Jyotiranjan Panda on February 11, for beating up the man who pasted the missing posters of the MP.
The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint filed by one Shubham Hira. He had alleged that Aparajita’s personal assistants Barik and Panda had beaten him up for pasting ‘missing’ posters. He stated in his complaint that he earned his livelihood by pasting posters and was unaware of their contents.
Acting on the complaint, police arrested Barik and Panda from Laxmisagar area.
Barik was admitted into AIIMS, Bhubaneswar after he complained of ill health.
After being discharged, Barik was taken to Laxmisagar police station and then forwarded to court.
‘Aparajita Missing’ posters had surfaced in the Odisha capital as a protest over Lok Sabha MP Aparajita Sarangi’s silence on National Monuments Authority (NMA) draft heritage bylaws for Lingaraj Temple and Ekamra Kshetra region on February 10. The hashtag #AparajitaMissing also trended on Twitter on the same day.
