Cuttack: In a major breakthrough, Govindpur police on Friday arrested three youths in connection with the gang rape and murder of a minor girl of Sudasailo village of Kantapada tehsil in Odisha’s Cuttack district who had gone missing since a month.
According to police, the family members had lodged a complaint with the Govindpur police about the minor girl after she went on missing on February 11.
Acting on the complaint, police had registered a case.
In course of investigation, police on Saturday detained three youths. During interrogation, the trio admitted to their crime and told the police that after raping the girl, they killed her and buried the body at a place on the outskirts of Kunda village.
“Acting on the confession of the three arrested youths, a police team accompanied by a scientific team would go to the spot near Kunda village and recover the body of the minor girl. The body will be later taken for post mortem,” a police officer said.
