Missing Stones: SJTA Seeks Old Photos Of Ratna Simhasan In Puri Jagannath Temple From ASI

Puri: Amid the row over the missing stones from the Ratna Simhasan in the Jagannath temple in Puri, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has sought old photos of the Ratna Simhasan from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

SJTA chief administrator Krishan Kumar said the temple administration will take a decision after verifying the structural status of the Ratna Simhasan from the old photos and its present condition.

Senior sevayat Ipsit Pratihari said the details of the stones and other idols recovered by the ASI during its repair and reconstruction works in the main temple during previous years have not been submitted to the SJTA.

In order to ascertain why and how the stones and idols were recovered, a thorough investigation should be made, he demanded.

Similarly, convener of Jagannath Sena Priyadarshan Patnaik said the ASI should give the details about the idols of Lord Shiva, Lord Nataraj, Lord Ganesh, Goddess Kali, Lord Vishnu with 24 forms and an idol recovered from beneath the Garuda Stambha to the temple administration. Besides, why the earthing wire from the Nila Chakra to the base of the temple was taken out during the removal of limes from the outer wall of the temple should be explained, he added.
