Missing Woman’s Body Found In Canal In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Body of a woman was recovered from a farmland in Bheda panchayat under Mahanga block of Cuttack district on Thursday.

The woman has been identified as Annapurna Mahapatra. The 44-year-old widow was living with her parents.

Annapurna’s father Haraprasad said she went out of the house in the night and did not return. “We searched for her but did not find her anywhere,” he said.

In the morning, some locals spotted her body in the canal of a farmland near her house and informed the family. Police recovered the body of the deceased and sent it for post-mortem.

Her family has alleged kidnap, rape and murder by some miscreants but police said they are awaiting the post-mortem before arriving at a conclusion.
