Sambalpur: Three days after a youth went missing from his house, police found his body in a power channel in the district on Friday.
According to sources, the youth, identified as Subind Kuanr of Ghenupali village under Khetrajpur police limits, had left his house, telling his mother that he was going to Maa Samalai temple on Tuesday evening. But he did not return home the same night.
Failing to find Subind after searching all possible places including the temple and enquiring from his friends and relatives, his mother filed a missing complaint at Khetrajpur police station.
As Subind remained untraced for three days, the villagers of Ghenupali staged a demonstration in front of the police station demanding urgent steps to find him. Following an intensive search, the police found Subind dead in the power channel in Burla.
With the help of Fire personnel, the police retrieved his body from the power channel. They found his hands and legs tied with a rope.
From preliminary investigation, police suspected that Subind might have been murdered and then thrown into the power channel after tying his hands and legs. They have launched an investigation and were questioning some people in this connection.
