Berhampur: In view of the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Ganjam district, particularly Berhampur city, the administration has decided to launch Mission Zero COVID-19 in the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area.
As most persons coming from other states are staying in home quarantine, it is necessary to undertake a health screening in the BeMC area, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said. The coming weeks will be critical for containing the spread of the coronavirus in the district, he added.
He said it has been observed that many critical COVID-19 cases have been reported from the persons suffering from communicable and non-communicable diseases. Hence it is important to take preventive measures to contain vector-borne and water-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue and diarrhoea.
Looking into the prevalence of COVID-19 infection in the community and other communicable and non-communicable diseases, Mission Zero Covid-19 in Berhampur City will be initiated with a standard SOP.
The objectives of the Mission are to identify the COVID-19 symptoms and co-morbidity, provide emergency treatment at the doorsteps and create awareness on COVID-19, TB, malaria, dengue and diarrhoea and prevention activities.
