Aizawl: Mizoram reported its first COVID-19 fatality on Wednesday, when a 66-year-old man died in the capital city of Aizawl.
The patient had co-morbidities and underwent treatment at Zoram Medical College and Hospital (ZMCH) for 10 days, The Hindu reported.
“The first COVID-19 related mortality in Mizoram comes as a huge shock to the entire state. We are pained and will continue putting up our guard against this pandemic,” Chief Minister Zoramthanga said.

He was 62 year old with existing co-morbidities and was under treatment at ZMC for more than 10 days,” Mizoram’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations tweeted, before correcting the age of the deceased to 66 in a subsequent tweet.
As per official data, Mizoram reported 2,607 coronavirus cases till Wednesday, of which 2,233 patients have already recovered.
