MKCG students stage dharna over ragging by seniors

Berhampur: Tension prevailed at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here after a group of second-year students staged a dharna before the institution on Saturday night alleging ragging by seniors.

According to the allegations brought by the agitating students, they were brutally beaten up by some final-year medical students earlier that evening.

“Our hair was snipped and they also made us to stand for several hours in the name of ragging. Such torture has become a daily affair. We were brutally thrashed by the seniors last night following which we approached the principal, who assured us that he would look into the matter. But, nothing has been done so far.”

The senior students, however, have denied any role in the ragging incident.
