Sambalpur: A meeting to resolve the ongoing crisis at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR), involving the institute director Ashwini Pujari and PG students, on Monday remained inconclusive.
District collector, SP, VIMSAR principal and superintendent and representatives of junior doctors attended the meeting convened by local MLA Raseswari Panigrahi. They decided to apprise the Governor, who is the appointing authority of VIMSAR director, of the matter.
The junior doctors, who were present in the meeting, said that they will continue their cease-work agitation till the director is removed.
Earlier in the day, residents observed 12-hour Burla bandh demanding arrest of PG students involved in the attack on Pujari’s residence on Friday night. They had gheraoed the local police station and demonstrated in front of the hospital on Saturday over the issue, alleging that the director was being targeted for cracking the whip on erring doctors.
