Phulbani: Close on the heels of Deogarh incident, another MLA has landed in controversy for allegedly misbehaving with a BDO in Kandhamal district.
According to sources, the incident took place when BJD’s Baliguda MLA Chakramani Kanhar and Kandhamal Zilla Parishad (ZP) chairperson Nandini Mallik had gone to meet Baliguda BDO Jagdish Sarangi at the latter’s official chamber.
A video on the meeting, which has gone viral on social media, shows MLA and ZP chairperson accusing the BDO of ignoring and disrespecting the newly elected Mallik’s instructions. Though Sarangi kept his cool and refuted the allegation in official terms, Kanhar and Mallik shouted at him saying that he was incompetent to hold the post.
While the MLA raised his voice and accused the BDO of not carrying out some work as directed by Mallik, the BDO countered it saying that he was working as per the official norms.
Not satisfied with his reply, Mallik told him to do some works with an instruction to complete those within 5 days. If he is unable to complete the works, he can get himself transferred by approaching the district collector, ZP chairperson can be heard telling the BDO.
It may be noted that BJP’s Deogarh MLA Subash Chandra Panigrahi and two of his associates were arrested from Bhubaneswar on May 1 on charges of assaulting the BDO of Tileibani on April 30. However, the MLA was granted conditional bail by the court on last Saturday.
