Sambalpur: Mo Bus services virtually came to a halt in Odisha’s Sambalpur as the drivers and conductors staged a protest over various demands on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, an unidentified man allegedly abused and threatened a Mo Bus driver and the employees reported the matter to the senior officials. However, the authorities paid no heed to their complaint, the protesters claimed.
Following the incident, the drivers and employees of the Mo Bus operated by the Capital Regional Urban Transport (CRUT) staged a demonstration and stopped plying the bus.
Accusing the CRUT management of turning a deaf ear to their plight, the protesters threatened to go agitation for an indefinite period if their demands are not met.
Stating that 25 buses are plying on four routes in the city, the protesters said that if any mishap takes place while driving, the management never helps the staff. Instead of helping the employees, the officials ask them to deal with the problem on their own.
They further alleged that the depot manager is suspending many staff without any valid reason.
Senior CRUT officials were not immediately available for comment.
