Rourkela: Mo Bus may soon ply in Rourkela with Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) having invited tender to select a tour operator for launching the service in the steel city of western Odisha on Sepetmber 30.
According to sources, CRUT is planning to introduce new buses in and around Rourkela municipal area with a fleet size of 100 (70 AC and 30 Non-AC buses) by December this year through a tour operator. The service will be later extended to places adjoining the district headquarters depending on public demand.
October 28 is the last date for receiving the technical and financial proposals, sources said, adding that the tour operator would run the Mo Bus service in Rourkela will be for a period of eight years on the basis of ‘gross cost contract’.
The contract will be extended and renewed for another two years after reviewing the condition of the vehicles and the quality services to be offered by the concerned tour operator. The buses will be registered under the name of the tour operator, it added.
Currently, the Sundargarh Urban Transport Trust (SUTT) is providing city bus services in the city with a population of around 6.5 lakh. The Mo Bus service is now available in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.
