Rayagada: Convenor of Odisha-Mo Parivar, Arup Patnaik on Sunday met the grieving families of six Odia workers, who died in an accident at a shrimp farm in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, and offered financial aid on behalf of Chief Minister.
Five workers from Gunupur in Rayagada district and one worker from Gajapati district were burnt alive in a fire mishap at a shrimp farm in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Odisha–Mo Parivar coordinated with the local police in Andhra Pradesh and urged them to expedite the legal process. Gunupur MLA Raghunath Gamang reached Guntur with the relatives of the deceased and helped in performing the last rites.
Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart has announced ex gratia to the family of the deceased. Apart from this, the owner of the Company also agreed to provide compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the family following persuasion by Odisha-Mo Parivar. Rayagada Collector and Mo Parivar also extended financial assistance to the bereaved family.
Arup Patnaik and Gamang along with Rayagada district president Sudhir Das handed over the cheques to the family members at Gunupur. Notably, 33 other labourers also returned to Odisha along with them.
