Mo School Abhiyan Approves Proposals Worth Rs 769 Crore From Odisha’s 29 Dists

Bhubaneswar: The Executive Council of Mo School Abhiyan of Odisha government has approved proposals worth Rs 769.7 crore from 29 districts.

The 36th Executive Council of Mo School extended its approval at its meeting presided by Aswathy S, Secretary, School and Mass Education Department in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

It was revealed at the meeting that 20,370 alumni have joined hands with Mo School Abhiyan in the past two months and contributed Rs 11.48 crore for development of their alma mater. Mo School has also received grants worth Rs 248.25 crore from various CSR funds.

Coupled with the donors’ contribution, CSR funds and a 2X matching grant from the state government, the Executive Council approved projects worth ₹769.70 crore which will be made available for development of 3,465 primary, upper primary and high schools across the state.

The alumni have contributed Rs 5.48 crore in Balasore, Rs 1.38 crore in Jagatsingpur, Rs 67 lakh in Cuttack, Rs 39.79 lakh in Bhadrak, Rs 33.30 lakh in Mayurbhanj and Rs 24 lakh in Kendrapada districts. Till date, 7.05 lakh alumni have been connected with Mo School Abhiyan.

The Council also took decisions on various events to be organised at the state and district level to celebrate the fifth year of its foundation on November 14. Festival ‘Surabhi’ will be organised in the state-level children programme, where students can interact with eminent personalities from different walks of life through ‘Meet the Personality’ session.

The Council decided to lay emphasis on promoting service volunteering at the school level with the aim to connect a greater number of alumni under Mo School Abhiyan. The alumni members will pose as the source of inspiration and guide for the young generation through their skills, expertise and interest. The district collectors and Mo School district-level committees will roll out the alumni engagement campaign.
