Balangir: Tension ran high at Bhalusagar under Patnagarh block of Balangir district after an angry mob torched a bus following the death of a girl student in a road mishap here.
The incident took place at 10 am when a private passenger bus with Rajalaxmi written on it collided head-on with a motorcycle.
The biker identified as Balaram Sa and the two girls riding pillion sustained grievous injuries and were trapped under the bus for nearly an hour.
Later, police with the help of locals managed to rescue the trio. However, one of the girls succumbed to injuries after being rescued.
Irked over the incident, a group of angry locals ransacked the bus and then set it on fire in the presence of police.
